More than a month after being kidnapped in Kabul, Judith D’Souza, an aid worker from Kolkata, returned home late on Sunday evening.
Ms. D’Souza was accompanied by her brother Jerome D’Souza. The family arrived at the city airport around 7 p.m. and reached home at Entally in Central Kolkata within an hour.
By the time she reached home, a large crowd of locals along with mediapersons had gathered in front of her residence. They were, however, not allowed by the police to speak to her.
Speaking to The Hindu before they set out for home Ms. D’Souza’s brother Jerome said: “She is in trauma but does not have any physical complications. Pointing out that she has returned to her city after spending more than a month in a “dangerous and life-threatening situation,” Mr. D’Souza said she was not in a condition to speak to the media.
Exhausted“She is not taking any calls as she is exhausted. Doctors have advised her rest,” said Mr. D’Souza.
Ms. D’Souza, who worked for the Aga Khan Foundation, was kidnapped from Kabul last month. She was rescued on Friday.
