Journalists demand immediate notification of wage board recommendations

Around 150 journalist and non-journalist staff of various media organisations and unions staged a demonstration here on Tuesday, demanding immediate notification of Justice Majithia Wage Board recommendations.

The protest was held in front of the District Collectorate in which union representatives from various newspapers and two news agencies, PTI and UNI, participated.

The agitation was led by Hindu Employees and National Press Workers Unions President E. Gopal.

Members of PTI Workers Union, Hindu Employees Union, UNI Chennai Employees Union, among others, participated in the protest, organised to appeal to the Prime Minister not to further delay notification of the wage board, which was already delayed by six months.

Members of All Media Journalists Association (AMJA) also participated in the demonstration.
