January 28, 2012 12:03 am | Updated October 18, 2016 02:41 pm IST - PATNA:

In a shocking incident, a senior journalist attached to The Pioneer was attacked by thugs in broad daylight at his apartment here on Friday morning.

Multiple injuries

Assistant Editor Amarnath Tewary escaped with multiple injuries when he was beaten up by unidentified persons with heavy sticks and rods at his apartment at Rajendra Nagar in Kankerbagh, police sources said.

Mr. Tewary, who was rushed to a nursing home following the attack, has reported for BBC online and associated with Outlook magazine.

He was discharged later in the day.

Differences

Police ascribe the attack to differences among office-bearers of the apartment association.

According to them, a certain party was opposed to Mr. Tewary's suggestions for changing the secretary of the association.

An FIR has been registered at the Kadamkuan police station in this regard.

Police yet to act

While politicians across the spectrum have condemned the incident, sources close to Mr. Tewary complained that there was no sign of any concrete action as yet on the part of the police.
