Industrialist and MP Naveen Jindal, who is the Congress candidate in the Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency in Haryana, has approached the Election Commission, asking it to restrain Zee News, Zee Business and Zee News UP Channels of Zee News from broadcasting “false, defamatory and misleading news items” against him and his company.

Referring to a March 7 Zee News programme titled, ‘In Bhilwada the mine allotted to JSPL will be cancelled,’ Mr. Jindal, in his petition, said: “This is a completely false and mischievous story as no mine has been allotted to JSPL in Bhilwada in Rajasthan.”

He said 85 news stories targeting him and his group of companies were telecast by Zee News and its channels after the model code of conduct had come into force.
