A Kolkata-bound Jetlite flight from Port Blair made an emergency landing on Wednesday at the NSC Bose international airport in Kolkata after its right engine developed a technical fault, airport sources said.

The Boeing 737 plane with 187 passengers on board landed safely at 2.55 pm, they said, adding, the technical fault arose mid-air when on the way from Port Blair to Kolkata on Wednesday afternoon.

The pilot contacted the air traffic control at the airport in Kolkata and all emergency preparations were made, sources said.

A Jetlite spokesperson said the S2 320 flight suffered technical problems and all passengers are safe.

The aircraft is being repaired in the parking bay, the spokesperson added.
