Private air-carrier, Jet Airways, has plans to launch a service between Mumbai and Bangladesh capital, Dhaka, by mid-October and is awaiting necessary regulatory approvals from the Government, an airline source said.

“We have plans to launch our Dhaka flight from Mumbai mid-October and we are awaiting government approval,” a Jet Airways source told PTI here.

The Mumbai-Dhaka service would be the third by Jet Airways to India’s neighbour. It already operates a daily air-service to Dhaka from Delhi and Kolkata.

With the proposed launch of the Mumbai-Dhaka service, the airline would provide passengers from Bangladesh connectivity to North America, Europe and the Gulf, as well as other ASEAN destinations.

Jet Airways would deploy a Boeing 737-800 aircraft to operate the sector, the source said.

The airline currently operates over 80 international flights to New York (both JFK and Newark), Toronto, Brussels, London (Heathrow), Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Colombo, Bangkok, Kathmandu, Dhaka, Kuwait, Bahrain, Muscat, Doha, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Jeddah and Riyadh.
