Jayalalithaa slams petrol price hike

May 15, 2015 11:38 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 05:05 pm IST - CHENNAI:

As the latest round of petrol price hike would push up the cost of essential commodities burdening the commoners more, AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Friday asked the Centre to roll back the hike.

In a statement, she criticised the BJP—led Union government for following the fuel policy adopted by the previous UPA regime.

The Centre should have the authority to fix the fuel price and not oil companies, she said, seeking a reversal of the policy.

Like the previous Congress coalition government at the Centre, the present BJP government was also following the wrong fuel policy, she said.
