Jayalalithaa gets bail in shortest period

The former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, is the first politician to get bail in 21 days of incarceration either after conviction or during the trial stage.

The former Bihar Chief Minister, Lalu Prasad, convicted in the fodder scam case, got bail after nearly a year.

The former Haryana Chief Minister, Om Prakash Chautala, who was convicted and sentenced for 10 years in a corruption case, got interim bail on medical grounds after remaining in prison for over two months.

As for pre-conviction incarceration, YSR Congress leader Jaganmohan Reddy remained behind bars for over a year in a disproportionate assets case.

The Supreme Court granted bail to Satyam Computers Services Ltd. founder-chairman B. Ramalinga Raju, his brother B. Rama Raju and former Chief Financial Officer Vadlamani Srinivas after they remained in jail for over two years and eight months.

Mining baron Gali Janardhana Reddy, arrested in March 2012, is still in jail.

In the 2G scam, the former Telecom Minister, A. Raja, and Kanimozhi got bail after a year in jail.
