Jaya Jaitly, a close aide of the former Defence Minister, George Fernandes, was on Wednesday denied entry to his official residence when she along with her friends went to pick up her personal belongings.

Ms. Jaitly reached 3 Krishna Menon Marg of Mr. Fernandes around noon accompanied by a couple of her friends to take away her belongings. Later, two brothers of Mr. Fernandes, Michael and Richard, also reached the house, but they too were not allowed inside.

Ms. Jaitly later told a news agency that she had a letter from Mr. Fernandes' wife Leila Kabir allowing her to collect her belongings such as books, handicrafts and her mother's old furniture. She said the people who had occupied the house could not tolerate those who loved Mr. Fernandes.
