Jawan dies of bullet injuries in Kochi

A Defence Security Corps (DSC) sepoy posted to the Southern Naval Command in Kochi since 2010 died of bullet injuries on Wednesday night.

“Sepoy A. Radha, 48, passed away due to bullet injury at about 10:30 p.m.,” said a defence release.

Sepoy Radha was on duty as sentry at the Material Organisation – the store depot at the Naval Base. The jawan from the adjacent sentry post along with the Guard Commander discovered him dead as they rushed to his post after hearing a gun shot. A resident of Vellore district of Tamil Nadu, Sepoy Radha is survived by his spouse and three children aged 19, 17 and 14 years.

The matter has been reported to the Harbour Police in Kochi. A board of inquiry is being constituted to investigate the circumstances leading to the death of the jawan, said the Navy.
