Senior BJP leader and the sitting MP from Darjeeling Jaswant Singh is miffed that he is not among the candidates named for the Lok Sabha elections by the party so far.

Aspiring for a ticket from Barmer in Rajasthan, Mr. Singh’s name does not figure in the six lists released, prompting the veteran leader to hint that he would consider fighting as an independent candidate.

The long wait has not gone down well with his supporters, making a section of the Rajasthan BJP shoot off a letter to L.K. Advani, chairperson of the BJP Parliamentary Party, and urging the leadership to name Mr. Singh.

Mr. Singh’s case is not the only one. Murmurs of protest have gained momentum over naming “outsiders” and the party has been forced to turn its attention to the friction within.
