I’ve consulted judges before making 365-day proposal: CJI

“A day will come when lawyers will work for 365 days”

July 02, 2014 02:21 am | Updated May 23, 2016 03:49 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

Chief Justice of India R.M. Lodha on Tuesday rejected the charge that he did not consult his “brother judges” before mooting the idea that lawyers should work for 365 days in a year.

Referring to a newspaper report that he did not consult other judges before making this proposal, the CJI said he had written to all the judges in the Supreme Court individually and Chief Justices of all High Courts in the second week of May seeking their response. He said he had asked the CJs to get the views of the State Bar Councils and Bar associations.
