Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday said it is for Rahul Gandhi to decide for himself on playing a larger role in the party.
“No one can take a decision on his behalf. He has to take a decision,” she said in Parliament House after Vice President Hamid Ansari filed his nomination paper for a second term.
Her comments came against the backdrop of comments by senior Congress leaders like Digvijay Singh and Salman Khurshid clamouring for a larger role for Mr. Gandhi in the party.

This is not for Rahul to decide, India is no longer democratic, its dictatorship wearing a mask... how can the same family be coming to power so regularly, is India not capable of selecting the right man/woman capable of leading the country? Its time for the youngsters to take the lead to design a nation they wish to live in. Let India be a true democratic nation.
Who is preventing Rahul from playing an active role in the Congress. Did he not roll up his sleeves, play a hyper-active role and roller-coast the humiliating Congress Defeat in UP. Comments like .... It's for Rahul to decide... Rahul has to play a more active role are crude ploys to spur and baby-sit Rahul to disasters full-well knowing his capabilities / draw-backs. Only the family parasites and sychopants who are well-entrenched in the Congress will gain for themselves and their sons and daughters.
I suppose Mrs Sonia is wrong. It is the people of this Nation who have to decide, not Rahul. If
Rahul is truthful to himself, he will put a stop to this dynastic trend.
Being in the politics for decade and not taking any responsible larger active role is not a sign of leadership quality. Future India longs to see non-gandhian and non-family leader. Though defined as democratic country, it seems liek a monarch in terms of party and politics. Party and polictics should be open for intellectuals and leaders and not for family descendant.
People should come to the Parliament with commitment, vision, honesty, education and a workable plan to take the country forward. A leader should have leading qualities and preferably be a native. We don't want a 'Fujimori syndrome of Peru' repeated! Dynasty is anathema to Democracy. It is time the nation evolved from such a bondage!
