Refusing to comment on speculation on the timing of the execution of Ajmal Kasab, a day before the convening of Parliament, the Bharatiya Janata Party said it was “an issue of national importance,” but it had not yet brought closure to the families of the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.
Party spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman told journalists here on Wednesday: “The people of India wanted to see justice done, particularly the people of Mumbai. The affected families have never had a chance to have closure on this matter, but even now I think that the closure has not happened.” The execution decision “should have been taken long time ago,” but even now “justice is not complete.”
For, “the handlers of Kasab have not been brought to justice. Even in Pakistan the case is moving very slowly. That was an observation that the former Home Minister, P. Chidambaram, had made. He had commented that the progress is very slow,” she said.
Ms. Sitharaman said the execution of other persons convicted of crimes related to terrorism including Afzal Guru, who was convicted in the 2001 attack on Parliament, should also be carried out.
‘Sibal’s remark unfair’
She termed “unfair” Union Minister Kapil Sibal’s remark that the Congress took decisive action in the case of Kasab’s execution as compared to the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance government that released terrorists following the hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight to Kandahar, Afghanistan, in December 1999.
“Was it the BJP who surrendered to the terrorists or was it the government of India?... If you have a situation where a flightload of passengers who are Indian citizens being held hostage, won’t the government of the day want to save every life?”
Moreover, Ms. Sitharaman said, the decision to release the terrorists was taken “after due consultations with all parties.”

If a house is burgled, the house owner can be after the police and if necessary other law and order authorities of the government to get back what was lost in the burglary. But when a person is murdered, the victim's family cannot get back the victim alive in any way. If the police catches the murderer and the government punishes the criminal as per law after going through the due processes of law, what solace can the victim's family get in a civilized society where satisfaction from wreaking vengeance is not a socially accepted emotion. Punishment in any case is not meant to wreak vengeance. It is only meant to be an effective deterrent to criminal activities.
The nation awaits the final decisive and credible action by the
Government of India to prove its credentials on zero tolerance to
terrorism, in the case of Afzal Guru and Rajiv Gandhi killers.
So many people have died because of terrorism, all around the world. Let us try to solve the problems, nay, at least try to address the problems that cause them. Indians have to realize that Kashmir is a problem, just as Palestine is a problem. We cannot turn away our faces, refusing to address these problems.
If one looks back, some simple key decisions, if they had been taken, would have avoided much of this pain. If at the time of partition, the fate of Kashmir had been decided, and if at the end of the second world war, the fate of Palestine had been decided, imagine how much better our world would have been.
Its never too late, but the first thing to do is to recognize that there is a problem, and then try to address it, and stop taking an holier than thou attitude.
Nothing is achieved by this. We should have raided the terrorist training camps in Pakistan and wiped them out. Just imagine how US would have reacted and what would have been the fate of Pakistan ?
None can celebrate any one's death but the country has tried to send some message across the world about its convictions. For decades we are with a 'soft nation' tag which has made even our 'small neighbours' look down upon our people and the country. If we are not united in our thinking and acts and behave in a manner that invites criticism from our hostile neighbours, enough inimical forces are waiting to exploit such situations. Let us be united and walk ahead leaving the bickerings of the past behind.
Ajmal Amir Kasab is a person who had executed the plans laid out by the top men of lashkar-e-taiba. Those real men who had instructed these terrorists and planned out the attacks with precision are still at large. The Government of India must not stop the proceedings and they must try to bring down the entire army of terrorists who was involved in this. The terrorist group can recruit many Kasabs again and use them for carrying out attacks against India.
Hats off UPA for bringing an inordinate delay to end in executing the
capital punishment of the lone perpetrator of the ghastly attack on
Taj.For kasab the journey ends here but for the intelligence agencies
and government its still a long way to go. By expediting the process and exercising the due care and diligence govt has sent a strong message to
rest of the world that if anyone dare to commit a crime against us he
will be dealt with strong hand, time has come to hang guru as well, no
time for politics now
