I-T officials search Lilavati Hospital

Income Tax officials on Monday conducted searches at around 29 places, including the Lilavati Hospital, and the residences and offices of its trustees for alleged financial irregularities, official sources told The Hindu here.

Highly placed sources refused to divulge any details about the seizures made during the searches, but unofficial reports said that some hard drives and documents were seized. A press statement released by the hospital too confirmed the searches on its premises. ncy.

“Let me assure you that the functioning of the hospital is unaffected and the patients are being taken care of by our doctors,” the release stated.

The search operation on the hospital and the premises of the trustees of the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust comes four days after the Supreme Court issued notices to some Central agencies on a petition filed in the court.

The petition alleged that some trustees of the hospital were involved in money-laundering.
