The police have filed an interim charge sheet in an additional city sessions court against Pascal Mazurier, an employee of the French Consulate here.
He has been in judicial custody since June 19 on the charge of raping his daughter.
The police included circumstantial evidence in the charge sheet, along with a medical certificate.
Though it contained the statement of the victim, his three-and-a-half-year-old daughter, the police said she was too young to express herself and sought more time for investigation.
Mazurier, 39, Deputy Head of Chancery in the Consulate, has been charged under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) B. R. Ravikanthe Gowda said.
The police claimed that the investigations done so far had found him culpable.
Meanwhile, the bail application Mazurier filed in the Karnataka High Court has been posted to Friday for hearing.
Suja Jones, the mother of the victim and on whose complaint Mazurier was arrested, alleged that while the defence was given a copy of the charge sheet by the police, the investigating officer did not provide her with one; instead, he asked her to get it from the court. “How can I trust the police, who are showing a hostile attitude to me by denying the information to which I am entitled? The police have again asked me to provide samples of the child, stating that the earlier samples had been tampered with,” she told The Hindu .
Ms. Jones said the investigating officer — Venkataswamy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Cubbon Park Subdivision — asked her to give blood samples of the child for a comparative analysis.
This is for the third time that the samples will be drawn.
