The Indian National Lok Dal on Saturday demanded special inquiry by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court or the Punjab and Haryana High Court to probe the alleged illegalities and irregularities in the Robert Vadra – DLF land deals in Gurgaon, as was brought out by whistle blower IAS officer, Ashok Khemka.
Talking to reporters, INLD leader and legislator from Ellanabad, Abhay Singh Chautala along with the party’s Haryana unit chief, Ashok Arora demanded that in the light of Mr. Khemka’s recent revelations, Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda should tender his resignation immediately. The INLD leaders demanded that a thorough probe must fix the responsibility of every politician and officer involved in the scandal, so that appropriate criminal proceedings could be initiated.
Mr. Chautala said that the INLD had made repeated attempts to raise the issue in the Assembly during the last session. The party had submitted at least three adjournment motions seeking discussion on the land transferred by the Haryana government to Rajiv Gandhi Trust in Ulahawas village as well as Vadra-DLF land deal in Gurgaon. He said that panchayat land had been transferred to the trust where the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi and her daughter, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were trustees.
Mr. Chautala said that the Speaker of the Assembly not only rejected the opposition’s adjournment motions, but threw the INLD members out of the session. He said that the party would raise the issue in the session of the Assembly, which is scheduled to begin from September 6, as well as use other means of democratic protest, till the issue is taken to its logical conclusion and the guilty are punished.
