Calling for support to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Infosys co-founder N. R. Narayana Murthy on Wednesday said a lot of good things have happened in the past year and all political parties and citizens should “rally behind the PM.”

“We have a PM who is enthusiastic and is working hard... People, all parties and opposition should rally behind him,” he said.

Asked about the government’s performance in the past year, Mr. Murthy said, “I think a lot of good things have happened but it’s still early to say. Therefore, we must all be with the PM and support him. If we continue to do things with a sense of efficiency, then I’m sure we will make some progress.”

The co-founder of the second largest IT firm in India also sought a transparent and stable taxation policy, to inspire confidence about the government among tax payers.

“The government needs to create a taxation policy that is transparent, stable, easy to communicate, understand and comply with,” Mr. Murthy said, while delivering the annual lecture of CCI.
