Inept handling of situation, says Sharad Yadav

June 12, 2011 03:46 am | Updated November 17, 2021 01:25 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Janata Dal (United) president Sharad Yadav has criticised the Centre for its ‘inept handling' of the situation on the Ramlila grounds, where peaceful protesters were forced out in the dead of night. But he stopped short of supporting Yoga expert Ramdev and his demands.

In a statement here on Saturday, Mr. Yadav criticised the government for imposing Section 144, prohibiting protesting groups from gathering at certain places here. “This is not good for democracy. Picketing and organising demonstrations to protest any government action or inaction is the constitutional right of citizens,” he said. Continuation of the prohibiting orders reminded the country of the Emergency, he added.
