Three members of an Indian family were found dead in their house in the Ras Al Khaimah emirate of the United Arab Emirates on the day of Eid.

In what is suspected to be a case of suicide over financial problems, the father, mother and their daughter were found hanging, Emarat Al Youm , an Arabic daily said.

The bodies were discovered by the police after complaints by neighbours about stench from the house for the past three days, said Brigadier Khamis Al Hadidi, Director-General, Police Operations, Ras Al Khaimah Police.

The man, believed to be 44 years old, was found hanging from the ceiling of the hall while his wife, 31, was found hanging in the bedroom and their daughter, 8, was found dead in another room with her face covered.

The bodies have been transferred to the forensic laboratory. The identity of the trio has still not been established.

Initial investigations reveal that the man had financial problems, which may have forced him to end his own life and that of his family's, the report said.
