Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao and a senior United States official have discussed the agenda for the first India-U.S. internal security dialogue, scheduled to be held here on May 27.
The officials dwelt on the programme and agenda for the meeting, with terrorism as the overriding theme, said Ministry of External Affairs sources. During her telephonic conversation with U.S. Deputy Secretary for Homeland Security Jane Holl, Ms. Rao hoped the dialogue would strengthen anti-terrorism cooperation between the two countries.
India will be led by Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano will head the U.S. team. The new format for smoothening cooperation was announced by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and U.S. President Barack Obama last year.
