As the world mourned Steve Jobs, co-founder of Apple, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Thursday led the nation paying rich tributes to the iconic Information Technology entrepreneur, who lost his battle with cancer.
Apart from prominent members of India Inc, Bollywood actors, writers and common citizens used social networking sites Twitter and Facebook to pay tribute to Mr. Jobs, who gave the legendary ‘i' branded products, be it a laptop, a tablet PC, a mobile phone or a music/video player.
“I am deeply saddened to learn of the demise of Steve Jobs. He was truly an innovative man and taught us new ways to connect and communicate,” Dr. Singh said in his message while referring to Mr. Jobs' innovations and contributions in the field of computers and mobile phones.
Fans and ‘followers' flooded Twitter and Facebook with messages, paying their respect to the creator of iPhone and iPad. At least two Twitter accounts — ‘RIPSteveJobs' and ‘ThankYouSteve' — achieved ‘trending' (repeated posting of messages).
