Russian Ambassador to India, Alexander Kadakin, has described his second appointment to the post as a kind of homecoming. “For me personally, my second appointment as Ambassador here also has a profound inner meaning – it is a kind of homecoming to my Karma Bhoomi. Never have I concealed that I regard India as my second home, with greater part of my life and professional activity associated with her,” he said after presenting his credentials to President Pratibha Patil on Friday.
‘Unique phenomenon’
He described India-Russia ties as a “unique phenomenon” in the history of the world’s diplomacy not affected either by the passage of time or by the dramatic tribulations in the international arena.
“It has never been clouded by any contradictions or conflicts; it has never depended upon any transient considerations. It is heartening that the fundamental document of our cooperation – the Declaration of Strategic Partnership – was signed during my previous ambassadorial tenure. Friendly India has always been and will remain among top priorities of modern Russia,” he noted.
