Pakistan High Commissioner Shahid Malik on Tuesday met Home Secretary R.K. Singh and discussed with him issues that are likely to figure during the proposed meeting of Home Secretaries later this month.
During the meeting, scheduled to be held in Islamabad on May 24 and 25, the two sides are likely to ink an agreement to liberalise the visa procedures. It will exempt elderly people from police reporting, allow common people to visit three earmarked cities instead of one.
The Union Cabinet, on April 25, gave the nod for signing the pact.
A decision on the issue of multiple entry and reporting-free visas for businessmen, allowing them to visit five cities instead of three at present, was also likely to be taken up, sources in the Home Ministry said. The Indian delegation would press for action by Pakistan to bring the perpetrators of the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, including JuD chief Hafiz Saeed, to justice. It would also seek speedy trial in a Pakistani court of seven 26/11 accused, including Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi, the sources said.
