BJP president Nitin Gadkari has underscored an urgent need for India and Israel to enhance cooperation in combating terrorism and promoting joint ventures in agro-based industries.
Mr. Gadkari, who is on a six-day goodwill visit to Israel along with a BJP delegation, said that Indian states facing Maoist violence could benefit from the Israeli homeland security systems which are based on advanced technology.
Speaking after a presentation, Mr. Gadkari said he has advised the security companies to organise special presentations in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar which are facing the challenge of Maoist violence.
The goodwill visit was aimed at promoting political dialogue as well as people to contact between the two countries, the BJP chief said.
Friendly relations between the two nations have been making steady progress and they have expanded cooperation in various fields including high-end technology, he said later at a reception hosted by the Israel-India Friendship Association and the Marathi Jewish Community here.
During the last two days, Mr. Gadkari has visited some joint venture research and development projects relating to homeland security, agriculture, water management and irrigation.
Several Israeli trade and industry delegations also called on Mr. Gadkari expressing keen interest in starting joint ventures in the areas of water management, irrigation, dairy and other agro-based industries in the BJP-ruled states.
Mr. Gadkari is scheduled to meet the political leadership here and interact with the Israel-India Parliamentary Friendship League tomorrow.
The BJP president is accompanied by party general secretary Vasundhra Raje Scindia and Vijay Jolly, in-charge of the party’s Foreign Cell among others.
