India on Tuesday denied a media report that two Indo-Tibetan Border Police jawans were injured due to firing from across the Line of Actual Control with China.
“A media report about two ITBP jawans having been injured due to firing from across the LAC (Line of Actual Control) has come to notice. The report is factually incorrect,” the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement here.
A Kolkata/Guwhati dateline report published in an English daily said the firing took place a fortnight ago in an area identified as Kerang in northern Sikkim and quoted a highly placed intelligence source not authorised to brief the media.
The report also said that ITBP officials in New Delhi declined to confirm the incident.
