India on Friday conveyed its disappointment to Australia at the latest attacks on Indians in Brisbane and asked the Australian authorities to do more to prevent such incidents.

“We have learned about the attacks in Brisbane. We are getting further details,” Vishnu Prakash, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson, said here on Friday.

“We are disappointed at the attacks that are still continuing. Clearly more needs to be done,” he told reporters.

Two Indians, including a taxi driver, have been assaulted in two separate incidents in Brisbane.

A taxi driver was attacked about 2.40 a.m. on Friday after an argument broke out with two men in Carindale, in Brisbane’s southeast.

The men allegedly punched the driver in the face several times and smashed the car’s windscreen. The driver was taken to the hospital with cuts to his face and swelling to his right eye.

In the other assault on Thursday, a 25-year-old man was attacked and robbed while using a phone box near his home in Macgregor, in Brisbane’s south at about 10.40 p.m. He was punched in the head twice and had his wallet stolen.
