India, Bangladesh border forces begin meeting in Agartala

A 20-member delegation of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) started a conference with the Border Security Force here on Sunday.

The four-day meeting, being held at the BSF Frontier Headquarters, will discuss terror, cross-border crimes, smuggling and fencing.

BGB southeast region commander Brigadier General Md. Habibul Karim is leading his team. P.K. Dube, Inspector-General of the BSF’s Meghalaya Frontier P.K. Dube is heading the Indian delegation. Senior BSF officials received Brigadier General Karim and his team at the Integrated Checkpoint here.

Brigadier General Karim told journalists that the cooperation between two border security forces was excellent and result-oriented.

The conference is taking place in the backdrop of an unsuccessful bid by some 200 Bangladeshi tribals to enter Khowai in west Tripura on June 24 and the trespass by BGB soldiers into Tripura on different occasions.
