Expressing “surprise” over India supporting a “weak and diluted” U.S. resolution against Sri Lanka at UNHRC, former UPA ally DMK on Thursday said New Delhi had by its action “totally disappointed” the entire Tamil diaspora.
DMK Parliamentary Party Leader T.R. Baalu told PTI that they had wanted India to propose amendments in order to declare that Sri Lanka had committed “genocide, human rights violations and war crimes”.
“We (also) wanted to have amendments for independent, credible, international inquiry into war crimes and human rights violations committed by Sri Lanka. But to our surprise, government of India has simply supported a diluted and a weak resolution,” he said.
India had not even tried to propose any amendments to the U.S.-backed resolution which was adopted by 25-13 margin with eight abstentions, he said.
“Government of India has totally disappointed not only eight crore Tamils, but the entire Tamil diaspora,” Mr. Baalu added.

They aught have resolved to create an Independent international Court of Justice against war Crimes including Genocide seated at say Vienna and resolved to take up all cases from after World war 2 in a time bound basis and FIFO basis . that would have satisfied the world and prevented unholy alliances. statesmanship is something lost nowadays
India got it diluted before voting for it.
It is an open secret Subramaniam Swamy met Rajapakse and proceeded to
Washington for the purpose of diluting the resolution at the instance
of India; the dirty linen when washed in public, India will look naked.
Sri Lanka will do everything to bring in China, right upto space
cooperation while India continues to act like circus buffoon fearing
'china card'. We are in self-deluding mode. On the other hand the U S
may try to extract its pound of flesh for diluting the resolution.
