Three Navy personnel, including two officers, were killed when a Chetak helicopter, on a routine ferry mission from Mumbai to Bangalore, crashed while landing for refuelling on the Dabolim airfield in Goa on Monday. The helicopter caught fire soon after the crash around 10 a.m., police sources said.

Lt. Cdr. Dharmendra Singh, Lt. Rahul Tiwari and H. Krishnan, CHAA, died on the spot. A Board of Inquiry has been ordered, said the Navy spokesman.

The crash took place at the approach of the runaway towards the eastern side. The wreckage was cleared before 1 p.m., avoiding inconvenience to flights, sources said.
