The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) have decided to make Identification Proof (ID) mandatory for devotees seeking to avail darshan tickets under the VIP/discretionary quota.
Though the stipulation has been in force for a while, the TTD staff has failed to strictly implement it, particularly in the case of VIPs who fall under the protocol category.
Quoting several instances of unauthorised persons gaining easy entry into the temple, TTD temple deputy EO C. Ramana on Wednesday issued strict instructions to temple officials to deny entry to anyone who failed to produce the ID proof.
None other than the person — his kith and kin included — under whose name the ticket is purchased will be allowed to use it.
The decision is expected to help the management curb the growing menace of impersonation.
