March 17, 2012 03:46 am | Updated November 16, 2021 11:26 pm IST - New Delhi:

Railway Minister Dinesh Trivedi, whose fate hangs in the balance, on Friday maintained that his decision on the fare hike was in the best interest of the nation and he had full faith in Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

“The country and I have full faith in the PM. I will do and have done what's in the best interest of the nation and the Indian Railways,” Mr. Trivedi said here. He earned the wrath of his party chief Mamata Banerjee for increasing passenger fares in the rail budget for 2012-13.
