Union Minister for Textiles Dayanidhi Maran on Monday denied that he had tried to ‘force, arm-twist, strangulate a person to sell his business to another person.'
“Sivasankaran is not a millionaire. He is a multi-multi billionaire. No one can force him to sell his business,” Mr. Maran told journalists outside his Boat Club Road residence here. He went on to cite newspaper reports indicating that Aircel had been parading itself for sale even before he became a Minister. Copies of the reports, which were distributed to the media, mention the bids for Aircel from Hutchinson and a Russian firm Sistema.
“The paper clippings I have given to you clearly prove that this particular company was parading itself [for sale] much before I even became a Minister,” he said.
Mr. Maran added: “Let me tell you — if someone feels forced they could have gone to the courts and got a remedy for it. Nothing of that sort happened.” He did not take any questions, and ended his statement thus: “I also have more facts with which, if needed, I will address the appropriate authorities and prove my innocence.”

It seems that Mr. Maran was expecting this allegation and kept the paper cuttings to prove that Air cel was up for sale even before he became the minister. interesting...isn't it..Reading between the lines and words of Mr. Maran's counter, i think we have a potential case here.....Since DMK is known for scientific corruption, we cannot term these as false allegations....may be there should be a constitutional amendment to ban anyone from becoming ministers, if any of their blood relatives are running business above particular value. (say 1 crore). Until such time, we will see corruption raising its ugly head in one form or other, and the common man have to bear the brunt of it.
If international companies were scouting for Aircel then why should a billionaire had to sell his company to Maxis. Every Indian knows that most of our politicians have invested their illgotten money in binamy companies in overseas. Who are the real owners of Maxis. From where Maxis accumulated wealth to buy Indian company when our own Indian companies are having more wealth and cash resources to invest in telecom related business in India itself.
Well well, then let's take his word; Maran is totally innocent then!!! On second thought, corruption did/does not exist in telecom sector!
If Aircel has been 'parading itself for sale' , why did they sell out to Maxis ? No other Takers ? If so why did Maxis decide to invest only in Sun TV and not any of the other listed companies in India ? The fact that maxis owns majority stakes in aircel which has been allotted spectrum and maxis group has invested heavily is Sun TV is sufficiently incriminating. The question of whether aircel sold out to maxis before or whether they decided to invest in Sun Tv before or during or after your tenure as minister though may be interesting, is certainly not moot.
Mr.Maran, Cabinet Ministers are more powerful than multi-multi millionaires.
Everyone in this country was thinking young Dayanidhi was doing a good job as union minister unlike other old fogies. Only a very few can only get rid of passion to amass money for their progeny which is useless ultimately in many cases. If proved guilty severest of the punishments must be awarded for cheating the nation and its gullible people.
