Legal Correspondent of The Hindu J. Venkatesan has been honoured for his contribution to legal reporting by the International Council of Jurists in collaboration with the All India Bar Association and the Indian Council of Jurists.

On Saturday, National Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice K.G. Balakrishnan presented the National Law Day Award- 2012 award to Mr. Venkatesan, who has been reporting legal affairs for the last three decades. The citation says Mr. Venkatesan has been awarded for “his lifelong passionate and dedicated contribution to the field of accurate legal reporting and writing, which has set a benchmark for journalism. He is credited with comprehensive and unbiased coverage of legal events and developments.”

On the occasion, Justice V.S. Sirpurkar, Chairperson, Competition Appellate Tribunal was given the National Law Day Award “in recognition of his outstanding contribution to fair and efficient administration of justice during his distinguished judicial tenure.”

Chief Justice of Nepal Justice Khil Raj Regmi was honoured with the International Jurists Award for his lifelong unique contribution to administration of justice. Prabhakaran, vice-chairman All India Bar Association, thanked Justice Balakrishnan and the awardees.
