After drawing flak for alleged delayed action in the Hisar gangrape case, the Haryana Police on Wednesday arrested seven persons from Uttarakhand. The arrested may be tried in a fast-track court.
Five people, including Vikas, Rajkumar and Pawan, against whom a FIR was registered, were arrested from Almora. They were found hiding in a hotel. Two others were also arrested from elsewhere for allegedly sheltering them, said Haryana Director-General of Police R.S. Dalal, adding that nine people were arrested in connection with the case. Hisar’s Superintendent of Police B. Satheesh Balan said the arrested people had confessed to the crime and would be produced before a court here on Thursday.
In a similar incident, a woman in Haryana was allegedly raped at gunpoint when she was alone in her house by three men on September 21. The men filmed the incident and circulated a video clip of the crime in Jind district.
