June 13, 2014 02:52 am | Updated November 16, 2021 06:59 pm IST - MANDI(Himachal Pradesh):

Two more bodies were recovered from the Beas on Thursday, five days after 25 engineering students from Hyderabad were washed away by the gushing waters.

With the recovery of the bodies of T. Upender and Gonoor Arvind Kumar, the total number of the bodies recovered has gone up to eight even as more diving teams from the Navy joined the rescue operations.

The search teams are now planning to use unmanned aerial vehicles and high intensity under-water cameras along the 16-km stretch from Thalot to the Pandoh dam site, officials of the National Disaster Relief Force said.

Visibility problems

The divers are facing problems of visibility in the muddy waters, said the Vice-Chairman of National Disaster Management Authority, M. Shashidhar Reddy, who reached the spot on Thursday.

More than 550 rescue workers belonging to various agencies are involved in the search. More than a dozen expert divers from the NDRF joined the operation on Thursday.
