The Himachal Pradesh High Court on Monday, after hearing the arguments of both sides, reserved judgment for Wednesday in the Aman Kachroo ragging case.
The court had earlier restrained the Fast Track Court in Dharamsala from proceeding further on the State government's plea for cancellation of the bail of the four medicos accused of ragging.
The High Court had issued a suo motu notice to the four asking why the bail granted by the Fast Track Court should not be cancelled and had summoned them here along with the SSP Kangra on July 24.
Defence lawyers who had sought an adjournment on Saturday pleaded on Monday that the bail was given lawfully by the Fast Track Court. Their plea had been rejected five times earlier.
They said there was no question of their influencing the evidence as the majority of them had been examined by the lower court.
According to them, Kachroo could have died because of the severe heart ailment he was suffering from, and not from ragging-related injuries.
The State Advocate General said the post-mortem reports showed Aman had died because of head injuries.
Demanding the cancellation of bail, he said the statements recorded indicated that Kachroo was tortured during ragging and the bail order by the lower court suffered from judicial impropriety and illegality.
All the four accused were in court.
