Heavy rains in the last three days triggered flash floods in Bihar, inundating large swathes of land and affecting thousands of people in the State.

Thousands have been forced to flee their homes even as the National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) teams were carrying rescue operations on a war-footing to evacuate people from low-lying areas.

A resident said relief material provided by the government was unable to reach them and that people were falling sick due to lack of food and potable water.

The flood fury has thrown life out of gear in various parts of Bihar.
