Heavy rains predicted in Telangana

The Met Department here has forecast heavy rains in four districts of Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh during the next 36 hours even as the deep depression in the Bay of Bengal crossed the South Orissa coast.

The deep depression formed on Friday over West—Central Bay adjoining North—West Bay moved West—Northwesterly and crossed the South Orissa coast last night and weakened and lay centred over South Orissa adjoining Chattisgarh and north Andhra Pradesh. It is likely to weaken further, it said.

Rains occurred at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh region and Telangana while isolated rains occurred over Rayalaseema region of the state yesterday.

Heavy rainfall was recorded in Palasa and Ranasthalam in Srikakulam district and at Terlam in Vizianagaram district at about 5 cm.

The Met Department has forecast isolated heavy rains in the districts of Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Warangal of Telangana during next 36 hours and occurrence of light to moderate rain or thundershowers at a few places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and also isolated rain or thundershowers over Rayalaseema till the morning of October 18.
