American national and LeT terror suspect David Headley had stayed in a hotel close to a Jewish centre here during his visits to the Osho Ashram in the city in 2008-09.

Headley’s stay at hotel ‘Surya Villa’ on March 16 this year, when he also visited the Osho commune in the vicinity, is being looked into by police, sources close to investigating teams said on Thursday.

The city also houses another Jewish establishment, Ohel David Synagogue which is located in Cantonment area.

After the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, security at both the Jewish establishments in the city was beefed up and they still continued to be under vigil, police sources said.

Police are also scrutinising the documents pertaining to a day’s stay by Headley at the hotel on March 16 and verifying the details of the American passport copy submitted by the hotel management.

Police were passing on fresh leads to NIA, entrusted with the investigations in the case, sources added.

The Pakistan-born U.S. citizen and his Canadian aide Tahawwur Rana were arrested by FBI for plotting terror attacks in India.
