The Communist Party of India on Thursday said Union Minister Dayanidhi Maran should step down in the wake of reports of his alleged connection in 2G Spectrum allocation.

“With certain facts unravelled by the media in connection with the 2G scam, the finger of suspicion is now pointing also at Mr. Dayanidhi Maran, who was the Minister for Telecommunication for nearly three years. From prima facie evidence, it appears that enterprises owned by the Maran family were the beneficiaries of some of the licences sanctioned by Maran as the Minister in a quid pro quo deal,'' the party's Central Secretariat said in a release.
