The Bombay High Court on Friday put on hold the release of Hindi feature film Rahasya, which is based on the high-profile murder case of Aarushi Talwar. The court, however, has not restrained the producers from making promos of the movie. The final decision on the release is likely to be taken on June 13.
Aarushi’s parents, Nupur and Rajesh Talwar, had filed a petition against the release of the film claiming that it had “distorted facts surrounding the gruesome death” of their daughter.
A Division Bench of Justices V.M. Kanade and Anil Menon, while hearing the petition on Friday, refused to restrain the producers from advertising or making promos of the movie. They said no prima facie case was made out for the relief.
Advocate Atul Damle, appearing for director Manish Gupta and producer, UVI Films Production Ltd, told the court that a disclaimer would be put in the promos and advertisement saying the movie was fictional and bore no resemblance to any person dead or alive and that the producers would not release the film before June 13.
