The Pune-based businessman Hasan Ali Khan's wife Rheema Khan will appear before the Enforcement Directorate on April 1. She has been summoned by the ED as part of investigation into the money-laundering charges against Mr. Khan.

Official sources told The Hindu that Ms. Khan faxed a letter to the ED about the date of her appearance.

The sources denied media reports that Ms. Khan would appear in the Supreme Court on Monday, when the ED would submit a report on the status of its investigation.

Confirming that Ms. Khan would appear before the ED, counsel for Mr. Khan, Ramakant Gaur, said: “She has been summoned for the investigation as a witness. There are no charges against her.”

Mr. Khan, who is accused of stashing away $8 billion in black money in foreign bank accounts, is in judicial custody till April 8.

The ED has been interrogating Switzerland-based hotelier Phillip Anandraj, Mumbai-based interior designer Abbas Naqvi and Mr. Khan's chartered accountant Sunil Shinde in the case. The Kolkata-based businessman Kashinath Tapuriah is in ED's custody, and his wife Chandrika Tapuriah is under interrogation.
