The 53-year-old Hasan Ali Khan, who will be produced in a court here later in the day, was taken to the state-run hospital around 7 am for a routine medical check up, police said.

ED officials on Monday carried out multi-city searches including at his Pune home in posh Koregaon locality and his associates’ premises and detained him there. They later grilled him for nearly six hours in Mumbai before they put him under arrest here around midnight.

The scrap dealer has been charged under various sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The probe agency cracked the whip on Khan, immediately before the end of the Supreme Court’s deadline today to the government to inform it how it proposed to tackle black money hoarders.
