Gurdwaras Act amendment could disturb peace in Punjab, says Badal

October 20, 2012 11:10 pm | Updated 11:10 pm IST - BHIKHIWIND (TARN TARAN):

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has warned that the move to amend the Delhi Sikh Gurdwaras Act, 1971, could disturb the hard-earned peace in Punjab.

“The proposed move to amend the… Act by the Congress government… proves that the Congress is meddling in the religious affairs of the Sikhs, which can never be tolerated,” he said, talking to reporters here on Saturday. “The sole aim... is to give benefits to its ‘B’ team, led by Delhi Singh Gurdwara Management Committee chief Paramjeet Singh Sarna, which is working at the Congress’ behest to weaken the Panth [the Sikh community].”
