Govt. conspired to kill me: Ramdev

A visibly shaken Baba Ramdev clad in a white ladies salwar and kurta on Sunday accused the Congress-led UPA government of having conspired to kill him during the police crackdown on his satyagraha at Ram Lila Grounds in New Delhi on the night intervening June 4 and 5.

"The supporters of black money may have ejected me from New Delhi but the indefinite fast will continue till my demands are met," he said.

Talking to newspersons after the police escorted him back from New Delhi, the Baba called upon all political, religious and social groups and individuals to rise up and demand action on retrieving black money, bring about a India-specific administrative system and promote education in all fields in Indian languages.

The Baba accused the Government of having threatened not to fulfill any of his demands if civil rights activist Anna Hazare was allowed to share the dais.

To a query the Baba said he was not an RSS agent. "Representatives of all religions and social action groups were there to support the movement. How can you simply say that it was a RSS or BJP sponsored show," he asked.

"Had I not stopped my people from reacting, the brutal police action would have left many dead as had happed in Jallianwala Bagh’, the Baba said fighting back tears as he narrated how women and even children were thrashed up by the cops who were using tear gas shells and had attacked without a warning.

"I escaped by wearing a ladies dress and hiding behind a wall. I would not have been caught had it not been for some women accompanying me saying aloud not to worry as there were no policemen there. This comment was heard by a policeman who immediately arrested me… and rest is history," Baba Ramdev said.

He also charged that the policemen tried to strangulate him with his "dupatta."

Sibal, a "cheat"

The Baba described the Union Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal as a cheat who had schemed to damage the crusade against corruption by first saying that all my demands had been met and then backing out. The brutal attacks on the men, women and children by the police also proved that Sonia Gandhi did not love Indians, he said.

Reeling out the various stages of negotiations with the central Ministers, the Baba said that they had more than assured him that all demands were to be met immediately. They even forced Acharya Balakrishna to write a letter assuring that the satyagraha would be ended by falsely saying that such a letter was required if they were to get the green signal from the Prime Minister.

The Baba felt that the Government was not in a mood to come out with an ordinance declaring black wealth as national property as that would result in the wealth hidden by many corrupt politicians and bureaucrats in foreign lands becoming national property.

Earlier the Baba who was brought to the Jolly Grant Airport by a special plane was escorted to his Patanjali Ashram via Rishikesh and the bypass by policemen including a Delhi police team. The ashram was crowded by his followers chanting slogans in his favour and against the Congress.
