Expressing “his deep sense of anguish at the loss of the lives of 24 Eastern Frontier Rifles (EFR) personnel and that of a local resident” in Monday’s attack by Maoists on a camp at Silda in Paschim Medinipur district, West Bengal Governor M.K. Narayanan on Wednesday said he was confident that the government forces aided by locals would be able to “defeat the evil intensions of the Left Wing extremists.”

In a press release issued by the Governor’s Secretariat, Mr. Narayanan expressed anguish at the loss of lives in the “Left Wing extremist attack” and conveyed “his heart-felt condolences to the bereaved families of those killed in the attack.”
