Gold chain retrieved from track

Three days after a passenger dropped a gold chain in the toilet of Maharashtra Express, it was retrieved from the railway track quite some distance from the Yeola station, 35 km from Shirdi. It all started on July 16, when Yeola station master Anil Kumar Shukla got a call, informing him that Dr. Chavan Patil, an orthopaedic surgeon, had let slip a gold chain in the toilet of the train passing through his station. The chain was worth ₹1.5 lakh.

Initially it was thought to be a bio toilet and hence could be opened only by the cleaning crew at Kolhapur. The doctor was asked to go there and make enquiries. Mr. Patil just went home and informed his daughter, who shot off a tweet to Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on July 18. Mr. Prabhu replied in 10 minutes that he had given instructions. It was later discovered that the toilet was the usual one and the search returned to Yeola.
