Goan films will be awarded prizes in international competition
The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) has invited entries for the Indian premiere section and the fourth edition of the Short Film Centre, for the 42nd IFFI 2011 to be held here from November 23 to December 3.
The ESG is the Goa Government's nodal agency for the International Film Festival of India.
Filmmakers who have ready-to-release films with the censor certificate obtained after September 1, 2011 can send their entries. Three selected films in this section will be premiered at the IFFI. The last date for receiving entries for Indian Premieres is October 22, an ESG spokesperson said here on Tuesday.
Filmmakers can submit Short Film Centre entries on or before October 28. The section is a business platform for shorts and documentaries.
The Short Film Centre will also hold an international competition, and a competition for the prestigious Vasudha Award for films on environmental issues.
The awards in the international competition are the “Golden Lamp Tree Award” for the best short/documentary film with a cash prize of Rs. 4 lakh; the “Silver Lamp Tree Award” with a cash prize of Rs. 3 lakh, and a “Special Jury Prize” with Rs. 2 lakh. The “Vasudha Award for the Best Film on Environmental Issues” carries a cash prize of Rs. 2.7 lakh.
In a new section, to be introduced from this year, Goan films will be awarded prizes in the international competition. There will be a “Special Jury Award for Goan Film” with a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 for the first place and Rs. 25,000 for the second place. The “Vasudha Award to the Best Goan Film on Environmental Issues” will be a cash prize of Rs. 50,000.
