Eminent journalist and Editorial Chairman of Outlook group Vinod Mehta has been chosen for the G.K. Reddy Memorial Award 2014.

The award, given for outstanding contribution to journalism, was founded by Member of Parliament and Chairman of the TSR Foundation, T. Subbarami Reddy. It carries a cash award of Rs. 5 lakh, a gold medal and a citation and will be presented at a function in New Delhi in December.

In a press release here on Tuesday, Mr. Subbarami Reddy said Mr. Mehta had become one of India’s popular editors, launching successful publications including The Sunday Observer , The Independent and The Pioneer , apart from authoring the biographies of actress Meena Kumari and politican Sanjay Gandhi.

Previous recipients of the award include The New Indian Express Editorial Director Prabhu Chawla, The Hindu Editor-in-Chief N. Ravi and The Indian Express former Editor-in-Chief Shekhar Gupta.
